Prior to 1961, Basking Ridge students attended Bernards High School, in Bernardsville, which was originally part of our Township. The land on which Ridge High School sits was donated by Basking Ridge resident George Ludlow Lee Sr., a former owner and CEO of the Red Devil Tool Company. To honor Mr. Lee for this generous land donation, students voted the new school mascot to be the "Red Devil". The Ridge football field is also named after Mr. Lee. At the same time, because rival Bernards High School's colors were red and black, students also voted to further differentiate the schools by choosing green instead of red.
Since its inception, Ridge Baseball has won three State Championships (1987, 2000 & 2002) and seven Somerset County Tournament Championships ('76, '80, '84, '85, '89, '11, & '22)
